Dogs – All About Our Breed
CrossBow Ranch breeds Texas Heelers with Hangin’ Tree Genetics. A Texas Heeler is a new up and coming breed although it has been around a long time. A Texas Heeler consists of mixing an Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler, Queensland Heeler, Cow Dog) with an Australian Shepherd. We have what is knows as F1 Crosses, which is the first offspring from the mixing of the two. An F1 Cross ensures the best likelihood that the best genes from both parents are passed down, although it is not guaranteed. The Florida Cattlemen’s association has put out an article for Cattle that explains the concept the best I’ve seen. (I’ll be linking it here shortly). All our puppies comes with registration papers as a mixed breed. CKC and AKC allows this as the pedigrees from both parents are established and proven. The Hangin’ Tree Registry is quite unique in that it focuses more on the purity of the hanging tree bloodlines and the ability to work livestock ins specific testing more so than the purity of Aussies or Cattle Dogs, thereby making it a breed all its own.
